Job summary: The Human Resources Coordinator facilitates and provides assistance with the human resource process at Ferrara Fire Apparatus.  This role administers employee benefits, personnel records and payroll support functions for the business.  This position acts a liaison between employees and the benefits providers, corporate payroll and other entities to ensure proper processing as well as problems and questions are resolved.  Proper execution of this role is key to ensuring effective benefits and payroll functioning, in addition to positive employee relations.  This role provides administrative support to the human resources function as needed including record keeping, file maintenance and HRIS data entry.



  • Assists Corporate Payroll with bi-monthly payroll execution
  • Updates and generates reports in HRIS and Vacation tracking system
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions in effort to ensure positive employee relations
  • Provides support to the Human Resources team by answering HR phone calls and employee walk-ins and determining course of action and direct accordingly
  • Processes new hire paperwork, and assists with site new employee onboarding process
  • Verifies I-9 documentation and maintains that they are current
  • Assists with processing of terminations
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process
  • Makes photocopies, faxes documents and performs other clerical functions
  • Files papers and documents into appropriate employee files
  • Assists or prepares correspondence
  • Prepares new employee files
  • Plans and coordinates employee engagements events
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems



  • 5 years of experience in the HR field with an emphasis on coordinator/associate duties
  • Associates Degree preferred in an appropriately related field of study
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Demonstrated organizational, teamwork and communication skills
  • Work performed in this role is primarily office related but the HR function supports a Manufacturing facility which may require the incumbent to perform activities on the Shop floo.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds.  Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
